Leadership in Turbulent Times: What My Biggest Manufacturing Client Really Wants
It’s about finding people who can lead with strength and sense. People who can take hits, and still move forward.
Yesterday I presented an eight‑candidate shortlist to one of my largest international manufacturing clients. All the profiles were solid—as expected. 😌
The shift in the first question
Previously: “Where are the women?”
Now: “Who’s strong enough to take the heat? Man or woman, it doesn’t matter—just someone who can steer the ship and hold the fort.”
Why the change?
That was unexpected to me as a first reaction. What changed? Honestly? The world. And yes, the Trump effect is real—even in my job. Uncertainty is rising. The tone is harder. Stakes are higher. My clients feel it.
What clients are seeking
They want leaders who can stand firm. Not just inspire—but withstand pressure, push back, hold ground. It’s about finding people who can lead with strength and sense. People who can take hits, and still move forward. So yes, Trump is not just reshaping politics (and shaking up stock markets!) His decisions reshape the way companies think about leadership. Even from across the ocean.
My takeaway
And if you ask me? True strength today isn’t about shouting louder. It’s about standing taller, listening better, and leading with both courage and clarity.
